March 24th 2015 – Valmalenco, Italy
SportsAid UK “Athlete of the Month” Lloyd Wallace, added a Junior World Championship bronze to his impressive results haul in his last event of the season.
In what was a very tough event, where Lloyd was up against 12 boys doing triple twisting doubles, and two doing quad twist, and despite reduced visibility and falling snow, Wallace nailed two triple twisting double somersaults, scoring a lifetime best of 190.70 for his full double-full and double-full full.
The 20-year-old Bath University student from Shaftesbury produced his best against a world class field to claim bronze in his last event as a junior. This victory comes after a season of success claiming Britain’s best world cup aerials results since 1995 with four top 20 places 15th at the Senior World Ski Championships in Kreischberg, Austria in January.
In a closely fought contest, Harrison Smith (USA) was crowned the new Junior World Champion with a score of 192.46 to edge out Maxim Burov (RUS) with 192.11 points, Wallace (GBR) took third with 190.70 closing out the podium by the closest of margins as Stanislav Nikitin (RUS) scored 190.63.
