World Masters Championship 2013

Britain was represented by Elodie Wallace, Harry Gillam and Lloyd Wallace at the 2013 World Masters water-ramp championships. This annual event is a world class competition and the only international event of its kind in Europe. There were national teams from Switzerland, Belarus, United States, Great Britain, Australia, Germany and Canada.

The most noticeable thing to followers of the British Team was the confident step-up in the difficulty of their moves, see the DD in brackets below. Harry has moved up to to triples and performed a lay tuck full (3.5) and a lay full full (3.8), Lloyd was jumping double-full full (3.525) and double-full double-full (3.9), and Elodie jumped a single full (2.3) and a double-full (2.675). Both Lloyd and Elodie were the only ones in the event to be performing their harder moves.

Elodie performed both her jumps with great mechanics and form, but also slightly too much rotation so despite landing skis first the judged are obliged to mark the landing down. Elodie finished 12th.

Harry and Lloyd both put down good performances, landed their jumps cleanly and had good height and form. In the first round Harry scored 65.1 for his lay tuck full, and Lloyd 80.02 for his double-full full. They were 18th and 15th. Then the top 6 men go directly through to the final. In the second round Lloyd scored 76.93 for his double-full double-full and Harry scored 79.8 for a solid lay full full, placing 10th and 9th. The cutoff points for finals (top 12) was 99.55, very much a World Cup level. Lloyd’s combined total of 156.95 is a personal best.

In the super finals (top 4), three of the competitors performed quintuple twisting triples. The final results were:
