Harry’s World Cup view

Harry’s World Cup view

Well it’s the end of my first World Cup competitions and it’s been an amazing experience. I still can’t get over the huge difference between World Cup competitions and those at Nor-Am level. All the people I met at the World Cup have been amazing and very supportive, but to see the top guys in action just blows you away. The thing that stands out for me is that even the top guys in the world can crash out in training like anybody else. Apart from their aerials skills, what really makes them the top competitors, is that when it matters in the competitions they can lay down the tricks and stomp the landings! The depth of their experience is huge.

Just standing at the top of the in run and on the knoll and looking down the air site, seeing all the people around the landing area and hearing all the noise, is so different from the Nor-Am events, but you have to just zone it out and focus on your jumps. My coaches gave me loads of confidence and really supported me. We had planned in advance what I would be doing in training and competition and we stuck to the plan, so I was confident with my jumps and not blown away by it all. Thankfully, I really got the chance to enjoy the experience. The ramp builders did a great job, so the ramps were smooth and felt great which really helped.

It was good to catch up with friends from SUI and BLR and I’m looking forward to seeing them again soon at the other competitions. For now, it’s back to my training and “the plan”.

I’ve already managed to get a few of my new jumps under my belt so I will be able to raise my DD for the next competition. I can’t wait!
