China update

China update

Thursday 12.12.13 Beida Lake, China

Well I’ve arrived in China. It really felt like Christmas when Father Christmas and his reindeer met us! We stopped in Beijing overnight to get over the jet lag – the flight was long and trying to keep awake was difficult. We stayed at the Hilton Hotel; great place, with a gym and pool to die for after plenty of sleep. Left for Changchun this morning, it was only a short flight and then went straight to the resort of Beida Lake.

Arrived ok  – this place is huge!  The resort sits in a bowl surrounded by mountains, but there’s nothing here but snow; plenty of it and the air site is already built. Today is the first day of ramp shaping, followed by training. It’s an early start and we need to be on the hill by 8am. I’m hoping for a good first day! Photos later.

Saturday 14.12.13 Beida Lake, China

Have managed to get ‘Whatsapp’ up and running which is great, as there is hardly any internet access, but being here makes up for it. China is fun and the people here are great. So far the food is also ok, although not like the Szechuan takeaway at home though. LOL!

The weather has been clear and sunny but its really cold; currently -25ºC and the air here tastes different. The snow is good and training been ok; although the ramps are bigger than I remember! The transition is short and fast, but even so I’m having to still come in at 69kph. It’s the last training day today so I’m going to make it a good one!
